Saj al Qarya {Lebanese Cafe}

When was the last time that you went out to the
Souk at Qaryat Al Beri (next to the Shangri-La)?  It seems to be in constant change with new restaurants popping up all the time.  The trouble with the Souk, however, is that like a Souk, it is winding, and if you don't know exactly where you are going, you may not pass by all of the shops and restaurants.  For example there are a handful of good restaurants upstairs in the back, but most people don't make it up there, or don't' even know there is an upstairs...unless you have bloggers like me ;)   So one of those great little hidden cafes is Saj Al  Qarya.  It is a Lebanese cafe and coffee shop, with an excellent cozy outdoor patio.

 The food is inexpensive and the service is more than friendly.  The owner hails directly from Lebanon and wears his heart on his sleeve.  Since he only moved here from Lebanon a few years ago, the flavors of his home country are still fresh on the mind.  His goal is to share some simple favorites with the people of Abu Dhabi.  Stop in for a quick saj, some sharing plates of chicken shwarma and hummus, or even fantastic Lebanese breakfast of foul and eggs (anyway you like).  Seriously those beans (foul) were some of the best I have had.

Have a sweet tooth? You can not skip the Turkish Coffee and Ghazl Al Banet "Cotton Candy" with Mastic Ice cream. Also, in case you are too far off in the city to get out to the Souk, they have just started delivery on Carriage.  So get ordering, and let me know what you think!
